Create Subscription For Rpt Service with Windows integrated security !!!

I m nicky here.
I have problem on Create Subscription for my report if my Data Source is use Windows Integrated Security, with this error message:

"Subscriptions cannot be created because the credentials used to run the report are not stored, or if a linked report , the linked is no longer valid"

Please Help ....

Sorry about the delay in responding, Xmas and project work got in the way!

I mean that you publish the one copy of a report, several times to different folders. You don't use a shared data source, but instead use a data source specificially for each report. Now you edit the connection string of each report based data source to match each specific user. Finially, if it is possible, you have each of these reports in a unique folder that have security defined on it per user.

As I said, not pretty, but a possible solution!

I got my issue fixed. The problem was that anonymous connections were set within IIS and this meant that RS security was rendered useless. Now that this issue is corrected, everything that I have read works correctly. (If not for the rock in the hoof of the lead horse...)

Create SRS Reports against Sharepoint

Hello, everyone!
Being new to SRS and Sharepoint, I was wondering:
Are there any walkthroughs or guides that can show me how to create an SRS
Report that displays data from a Sharepoint site?
For example, if I have a list on some site, and I want to run a report in
SRS to simply display the data from that list so it can be sent out via
Subscription, or printed in some specific fashion, how do I make the
connection to the Sharepoint database for that report?
I know this can be made through Access - querying the data and displaying it
in a form and whatnot, but I don't know where to begin for SRS.

I'm using Reporting Services 2005.

Is there any way to create a snapshot report from the report ?

While user generated the report he would like to save the current report as a snapshot (The report contain several parameters).

Is there any way pass to the report URL reqest to generate this report as snapshot ?

This is not possible. Snapshot generation is always based on the report's default parameters, you can not pass in parameters to generate a snapshot.

You could use the viewer control to simiulate this, but it would mean changing the report's defaults before calling CreateReportExecutionSnapshot, and the user would have to have the correct permission.

You can use RunningValue function to have running sums in your report.

|||You could also perform all of these sums, sorts, etc. within the SQL as well. My personal preference is to conduct almost everything in stored procedures and UDF's. The only special things I do in RS is date formatting, colors (IIF) ASC or DESC resorts on the fly - in that if I want to make system wide changes in RS I cannot remember where all of the special code is I use in RS.
To bad there is not a central repository for all custom code you include within RS - then you could just make the changes there and not worry about going back to each specific program to make the changes.

The easiest way to to this is to shell out to the browser. For example, if
your app is .NET WinForm app, you can do:
Process.Start ("IExplore", <report url>)
If you need to embed the report inside the form, you can use the Microsoft
WebBrowser ActiveX control. You may have a look at the RSExplorer sample
which comes with RS to find out how this could be implemented.
The above two options generate reports via URL addressability.
Alternatively, you can render the report by SOAP by calling the Render SOAP
API. In general, I would recommend you evaluate the URL addressability
option first since it is the fastest, richest and simplest way to render
reports.

Create report with complex and nested stored procedures

Hi all,

I had developed all my reports using CRXI and stored procedures of MSSQL 2000. Now I am migrating from CRXI to SSRS. But i have a problem because of my report stored procedures. These stored procedures are complex and nested. When i try to use procedures in a report, it gives a error. When i comment out my EXEC line in my procedures, it goes OK.

Please help me to do this ?

It can only mean that the nested stored procedure has issues and needs to be fixed. The stored procedure that you use in SQL Reporting services can use a stored procedure which has nested another stored procedure.

We are trying to convert our Crystal XI reports to SQL Reporting Services 2005. Our crystal reports get their data from ADO datasets which are populated through code at run time. Is it possible to do this in SQL Reporting Services?

The only options for a dataset seem to be query and stored procedure. When i have a blank dataset it throws an error. When i try to link my dataset to code, it throws an error.

We need to be able to do the same with reporting services reports. The only option available seems to be a dataset that is linked to a query or a stored procedure. We want to be able to fill the dataset by calling a method in our code.

You can create a Custom Assembly and reference that in the SSRS report.

Create a data source of type "XML". Create a dataset based on this data source in the SSRS.

You can call the function in the Custom Assembly that returns an XML dataset.

The following function was written in the Custom Code window and it reads an .xml file and returns it as data to the calling function.

We place fields on the report from the dataset, then at run time fill the dataset based off data generated in code, not a stored procedure.

We need to be able to do the same with reporting services reports. The only option available seems to be a dataset that is linked to a query or a stored procedure. We want to be able to fill the dataset by calling a method in our code.

You can create a Custom Assembly and reference that in the SSRS report.

Create a data source of type "XML". Create a dataset based on this data source in the SSRS.

You can call the function in the Custom Assembly that returns an XML dataset.

The following function was written in the Custom Code window and it reads an .xml file and returns it as data to the calling function.

I need to create a SSRS report snapshot at the end of an SSIS package (seems like this would be a common task). I tried connecting to the ReportingService web service to do this but I get the following error when after I select the web service in the Web Service Task:

This version of the Web Services Description Language (WSDL) is not supported.

Is there as simple way to do what I want?

The Web Service task has some limitations in respect to what WSDL it can consume. Put bluntly it is not much use in practice.

The easiest way to do this would be to write a custom task. You could do this in a script task, but generating the proxy class from WSDL and installing it for use by the Script Task would be almost as much work as just doing it all in a custom task. There are only a few lines of code required to actually call the methods, it is not hard.

I was wandering if it is possible to create report parameters on the
fly.
for example. table returns one moment 3 values, other moment 6 values.
depending how many values i would like to create report parameters...
Could anyone help?

What i understand of Cascading Parameters is that you have to predefine your
parameters before execution.
What i would like is to have is, depending on values returned by the
dataset, vary the amount of visual parameters.

>|||>From everything I've seen, the parameters are hard coded into the RDL,
and there is no way to dynamically add or remove parameters at report
run time. You may want to see if someone from Microsoft knows if this
is a wishlist item for future versions.
If you are letting Reporting Services prompt the user for parameters,
the best thing I can think of that you can do is define the maximum
number of parameters, then use cascading parameters in a way that the
unnecessary parameters only have a single choice called "Not
Applicable" or "Skip Me". If you have an application that is calling
the report, you could prompt the user only for the parameters that you
really care about, and then behind the scenes fill in the remaining
parameters with dummy values that aren't actually needed to generate
your report data.

show 4 textboxes, and choosing the name No2, I would like to show another
one, and hide the pevious four.
I'm going to make these textboxes dynamically.
Can I do it? Or is there another solution?

after hiding the first 4 elements and showing the only one, remaining part
of my report (these are textboxes with summary data) was fall apart: some
textboxes moved to top of another and the value became unreadable.
So it is why I've thought to draw these elements dynamically...

related tasks, it is seldom needed. If you post your table structures,
sample schema & expected results ( www.aspfaq.com/5006 ) someone here can
perhaps show you how to generate the required resultset without iteration.
One general trick employed in SQL for such requirements is using a table of
sequentially incrementing numbers. You can find several solutions related to
this, if you search the archives of this newsgroup.
